We’ll then travel north to Túcume in our private van, for a stay at the delightful Los Horcones de Túcume hotel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

We’ll lunch in the home of one of the growers, before returning to Chachapoyas for some free time. Breakfast and lunch included; dinner on your own in Chachapoyas.

Oct. 24: We depart for Kuélap, a stunning mountaintop archeological site built in the 6th century by the Chachapoyas culture. It sits at nearly 10,000 feet elevation in the cloud forest, overlooking the Utcubamba valley. We shortcut miles of winding, switchbacked roads by taking a brand-new aerial tram to the site. After a guided tour, we’ll have lunch at the home of a local family, then visit Milpuj, a privately-owned conservation area.
